More than 100 costumes from selected films of 2011 were displayed in this annual exhibition of motion picture costume design. Exhibition highlights included the 2011 Academy Award® Nominees for Costume Design: W/E, Hugo, Jane Eyre, The Artist, and Anonymous. The exhibition also showcased classic film costumes from the FIDM Museum collection and the Department of Recreation and Parks, City of Los Angeles, Historic Hollywood Collection. Some of these classic costumes were featured during the first Art of Motion Picture Costume Design exhibition in 1993.

Art of Motion Picture Costume Design

Originated by FIDM Museum Director Maggy Murray, the inaugural FIDM Museum Exhibition of Motion Picture Costume Design was a resounding success. This first exhibition featured costumes from 1964 to 1992, including My Fair Lady, Camelot, The Great Gatsby, All That Jazz, Dangerous Liaisons and Bugsy. Based on this success, this exhibit has become a highly anticipated annual tradition.
